Algarve-Winter

Once again, a very simple blog. Welcome to winter in the Algarve.

It is now the second week in january. Last week I photographed the almond tree on my boundary. It was in full bloom, a glorious sight against the clear blue sky.

This is how the Portuguese tourist board should advertise the Algarve to residents in the far north who are suffering snow drifts and sub zero temperatures. It may not be sun-bathing weather here. It may get a bit chilly at night. We even get rather a lot of rain in winter these days. But we also get lovely warm sunny days, and spring is everywhere. The fields are a mass of yellow. The flowers are out, with yellows, whites and blues all over my rockery, and the only snow is the blossom on the trees.

Hey Guys, what are you doing up there in the cold?
